Portuguese José Mourinho was officially announced as Fenerbahçe’s new coach last Sunday. During a press conference this Monday, he said that the project presented was fundamental for choosing the Turkish team.
“I knew the size of Fenerbahçe, I played against them when I was at Manchester United. The club has a project, our fans have dreams and for me accepting means ambition. If I could start training tomorrow, start playing next week, I would accept. project had an impact on me and now it’s my turn to have an impact on the project”, he said.

Mourinho will have the responsibility of leading a club with one of the most fanatical fans in the world. He talked about the pressure and said he wants to see the fans “crazy”.
“It’s up to the president, the management and the coach to be patient, but not the fans, they have to be crazy. I want that passion, I want to feel it and believe in everything. I want them to believe that we can win until the last minute, to play with us, that they are part of us. I hope we score goals in the last minutes so we can run for them”, he said.
At 61 years old, Mourinho arrives with the great objective of winning the Turkish Championship, which has not been won by Fenerbahçe for 10 years. He has been without a club since being fired from Roma at the beginning of this year.
It will be “Special One’s” first work in Türkiye. Previously, he had commanded teams from Portugal, Italy, Spain and England.
