Microsoft accused Russia of trying to discredit the 2024 Olympics in Paris
Russia is trying to discredit the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Microsoft researchers came to this conclusion; the corresponding report was published on the company’s website.
According to analysts, videos are being created in Russia, the purpose of which is to tarnish the reputation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the organizers of the Games. Microsoft also accused Russia of filming fake news stories in different languages that described problems in preparation for the Olympics, including those related to security.
Microsoft warned the organizers that Russia could stage provocations in Paris by holding protests on the eve of or during the Games. “This will be used to manipulate public perceptions and create feelings of fear and uncertainty,” the study said.
The IOC allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the Olympics in Paris as individual neutral athletes. Athletes who support a special operation in Ukraine, or who have connections with the armed forces or security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be allowed to participate in the competition. In addition, representatives of team sports will miss the tournament.
