The game
Fiorentina opened the scoring just seven minutes into the opening half. Castrovilli, receiving the ball on the left, crossed into the area and found Belotti who, unmarked, headed strong and scored the first of the match.
Atalanta’s equalizer came at 12 minutes into the first half. Lookman, after receiving a throw from De Ketelaere, beat the opposing defender with speed and finished with a dig, with no chance for goalkeeper Martinelli.
The visiting team took the lead again in the 19th minute of the first stage. González received a cross from Biraghi and finished with his left-footed volley to score Fiorentina’s second of the match.
Atalanta equalized again in the 32nd minute of the first period, this time with Scalvini. The Italian defender received a pass from Lookman on the edge of the area and hit a beautiful cross shot to equalize the score.
Fiorentina’s winning goal came in the 46th minute of the first half. After a corner kick on the right side, Belotti took advantage of a ball poorly hit by the opposing defense, dominated in the small area and finished, unmarked.
