The London police announced, this Saturday (1st) night, that they had made 53 arrests in Wembley, where Real Madrid won their 15th Champions League against Borussia Dortmund (2-0), five of them due to field invasion.
Most of the other detainees were for attempts to break into the security perimeter, according to the police, who indicated that major sporting events lead people who cannot get tickets to commit this type of action.
The British organizers had mobilized an important device (police, private security, access control personnel) to avoid incidents like those that occurred at Wembley in 2021, during the Euro Cup final between England and Italy, and in 2022 in Saint-Denis (outskirts Paris), when Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in that year’s Champions League final.
“The videos shared on the internet that show groups running towards the entrances do not necessarily represent attempts to enter the stadium that were successful”, indicated the security forces.
