Costa Rica and Uruguay drew 0-0 on Friday (31), in San José, in a friendly marked by a penalty missed by the ‘Ticos’ and a ‘Celeste’ team made up only of players from the Uruguayan championship.
The Costa Ricans were superior in terms of clear opportunities and dominance of the match, taking into account that the home team used their main team, although still in formation after the recent arrival of coach Gustavo Alfaro.
It was a new test for the ‘Ticos’ to find their feet before their debut in the Copa América against Brazil, on June 24th.

Costa Rica had two great chances to score, the main one in the first half, just before the break. But captain Francisco Calvo missed the penalty kick, in the 44th minute, by sending the ball out.
In the second stage, Uruguay advanced its lines and began to surround the local team’s area after a very serious first half in marking, but weak in attack.
The players called up by ‘Celeste’ had the chance to show coach Marcelo Bielsa that they can be an option for the Copa América.
The fouls and changes caused the game to lose momentum until the last 10 minutes, in which Costa Rica pressed again to seek victory.
They had a great opportunity towards the end. After a cross from the left by Joseph Mora, Orlando Galo headed but hit the post.
