Former Russian tennis player Varvara Gracheva called France her home. Her words are quoted by L’Equipe.
The 23-year-old tennis player said that the federation and fans help her as an athlete in everyday life. “From a human point of view, it was mainly the quality of my life that changed. At first I was really afraid that no one would accept me. But I like living here, working here,” she said.
On June 5, Gracheva changed her sports citizenship to French. The tennis player said that she decided to change the flag even before the coronavirus pandemic, as she has been living in France for more than six years.
The tennis player is ranked 81st in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. She has no victories in tournaments under the auspices of the organization.
