This Thursday, Luis Suárez published, on his social networks, a text in honor of Cavani, who announced retirement and Uruguayan national team. The Inter Miami striker and Uruguay’s top scorer recalled the trajectory of the two players.
“When we celebrated our first goal together, we were two boys who dreamed of taking our country to the highest places. These boys grew up and experienced unique and unrepeatable things defending our beloved national team. With sadness and joy, we always wanted the same goal: that Uruguay won and the flag was well represented”, began the scorer.

Together, the duo were champions of the 2011 Copa América, which took place in Argentina. The two strikers also helped lead the Uruguayan team to the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Luis Suárez closed the publication by thanking his former strike partner.
“Your name will forever be marked in the history of our football and our country. As a Uruguayan, I thank you for everything you did for the team. I wish you the best always. Up, Uruguay!”, completed the number 9.
