Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFKhG) Irina Viner with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree. RIA Novosti reports this.
The ceremony took place in the Kremlin. “There is an expression: “God’s Anointed One.” We are all believers here and we understand that everything that is given to you is given from there,” Wiener said during her acceptance speech. She added that all citizens of the country should stand behind the back of the head of state.
Earlier, Wiener described Putin in two words. She called the president a democratic and loyal person.
Wiener has been heading the WFHGS since 2008. Under her leadership, dozens of Russian gymnasts became winners and medalists of the Olympic Games. Wiener was also vice-president of the technical committee for rhythmic gymnastics of the International Gymnastics Federation.
