The International Boxing Federation called the IOC’s ultimatum on participation in the Games a disgrace

The International Boxing Association (IBA) called the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) ultimatum a disgrace, according to which athletes from national federations that are members of the IBA will not be able to take part in the 2028 Games. This is reported on the organization’s website.

The IBA said it has never banned athletes from participating in third-party events. “This is a clear manifestation of the lack of commitment to sport and integrity that they preach,” they stressed.

In June 2023, IOC Director General Christophe de Kepper stated that the organization had decided to withdraw recognition of the IBA. After this, the IOC announced that it would ban athletes from national federations that are members of the IBA from participating in the 2028 Olympics.

On October 5, 2022, the International Boxing Association (IBA), headed by Russian Umar Kremlev, admitted athletes from Russia and Belarus to international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Boxers will perform under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
