Messi scores, but Inter Miami loses at home to Atlanta United in MLS

Inter Miami, owned by Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, lost to Atlanta United 3-1, this Wednesday, at Lockhart Stadium, in the 17th round of the MLS. The Argentine star scored the only goal for the home team, while Lobzhanidze (2x) and Thiaré built the result for the visitors.

Even with the defeat, Inter Miami remained at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference with 34 points. Atlanta United is 12th in the same group with 16 units.

Messi’s team returns to the field this Saturday, against St. Louis, in MLS. Atlanta faces Charlotte, on Sunday, in the same competition.

After a balanced first half, Atlanta surprised and opened the scoring in the final stretch of the first half. In the 44th minute, Lobzhanidze went forward with space and hit a beautiful shot into the corner, scoring a great goal for the visiting team.

And Lobzhanidze scored again at the beginning of the second half, in the 14th minute. With space once again, he took the ball through the middle, cut to his left foot and finished in the corner to extend the score in favor of Atlanta.

Messi decided to appear three minutes after the visitors scored for the second time. The Argentine received it from Busquets and hit a left from outside the area, reducing the score.

However, in the 28th minute, Atlanta found the net again. Thiaré received an assist from Wiley and scored the third and final goal for the visitors, giving the final score to the duel.
