Mbappé faces impasse with Paris Saint-Germain over unpaid wages

Paris Saint-Germain’s season is over and so is Mbappé’s cycle in the French capital. Last weekend, the Parisian team won the French Cup over Lyon, in a duel that marked the 25-year-old star’s last game with the PSG shirt. After the match, Mbappé was warmly greeted by his teammates in a friendly farewell, however, in practice the reality is different. The French club did not pay the player’s April wages, and he went to court with lawyers to receive the amount.

According to the French newspaper The teamParis Saint-Germain blocked Mbappé’s salary for the month of April, in addition to not having paid a February bonus equivalent to the amount of 80 million euros.

The French club’s attitude was seen as a kind of revenge, for Mbappé not having renewed with PSG this half of the year. Another important factor was that, despite being one of the most valuable players in the world, the 25-year-old player will leave the Parisian team for free, due to the end of his contract.

For Paris Saint-Germain, Mbappé played 308 matches, scored 256 goals and provided 108 assists. He won 15 titles: six times champion of the French Championships, four French Cups, two French League Cups and three French Super Cups.

Mbappé’s next destination should be Real Madrid, who will announce it in the coming days. The striker’s lawyers hope that the dispute with PSG does not hinder the player’s transfer to the Spanish club.
