Mamun removed the inscription “Russian team” from the car donated for victory at the 2016 Olympic Games
Olympic champion in rhythmic gymnastics Margarita Mamun said in an interview with the YouTube channel “Vitya Kravchenko” that she removed the inscription “Russian team” from the car donated for winning the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The gymnast said that she did this only last year. “The inscription “Russian team” was written all over the hood. I pulled it off because I realized I had to move on,” she explained.
Mamun also said that she does not support radical statements by officials on the topic of participation in the 2024 Olympics. “For me, the most important thing in sport is respect. I grew up in such a family and trained in such conditions for most of my career. It’s very painful for me to listen to statements about homeless people, this is impossible,” she noted.
Earlier, the head of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics, Irina Viner, called Russians who want to perform at the Games in Paris homeless. The head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, also criticized Russian tennis players who want to compete at the Olympics, calling them a team of foreign agents.
