Undefeated Saudi champion, Jorge Jesus renews with Al-Hilal

One day after the end of this season’s Saudi Championship, Al-Hilal, the club of Brazilian star Neymar, announced, this Tuesday, the renewal of Jorge Jesus’ contract for another year. The announcement was made by the Saudis on their social networks.

Under the command of the Portuguese coach, Al-Hilal, this season, became champion of the Saudi Championship, undefeated with 31 wins and three draws, and also lifted the Super Cup. In addition to the titles, Jorge Jesus’ team took the record as the team with the most consecutive victories in football, with 34 triumphs and entered the Guiness Book.

“The ‘Golden League Champion’ and ‘Master of Tactics’ are together for another year,” wrote Al-Hilal in its X (old Twitter).

The Saudi Arabian team’s first idea was to extend the relationship with the former Flamengo player for another two seasons, however negotiations were heading towards a shorter agreement of just one year.

This is Jorge Jesus’ second spell at Al-Hilal, as the Portuguese commander was already in charge of the team between 2018 and 2019, going to Flamengo right away. As a result, in total, the coach has an 87.8% success rate, with 69 wins, nine draws and four setbacks. The titles won were: Saudi Championship and Super Cup (2).

Al-Hilal still has the final of the Saudi Arabian King’s Cup ahead of them. The team led by Jorge Jesus faces Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr at King Abdullah Sports City. The ball rolls at 3pm (Brasília time) this Friday.
