Medical officials involved in Maradona’s death have their trial postponed

The doctors responsible for Diego Maradona’s care before his death had their trial postponed this Tuesday. The legal action was scheduled to begin on June 4, but has been postponed and may be suspended, according to the Efe Agencyfrom Spain.

The postponement occurred because the Argentine star’s daughters, Dalma and Gianinna, filed an appeal, which would only lead to the case being judged in September. This is due to the fact that all witnesses have not yet been heard.

In total, eight medical professionals are involved in the case as they were responsible for Maradona’s care in the period before his death, including four doctors, two nurses, a nursing coordinator and a psychologist.

Diego Armando Maradona passed away on November 25, 2020, victim of “acute lung edema due to chronic heart failure”. The prosecutor’s office states that there were “actions and omissions that influenced” his death, and also that there were “a series of improvisations, with poor management of the situation in which health rules were not complied with.”
