Unai Emery has renewed five years with Aston Villaas announced this Monday by the English club, so the coach from Gipuzkoa, who led the team to qualify for the Champions League, will continue to lead the ‘villains’ until 2029.

Emery, 52, joined the Birmingham club in October 2022, with the seventeenth team, and managed to take it to seventh position at the end of his first season, returning the club to Europe -Conference League- for the first time in 13 years.

Subsequently, in the recently completed season, Aston Villa finished in a creditable fourth place in the Premier League, securing the Champions League for the first time in the history of the entity. In continental competition, they reached the semifinals of the Conference League.

“I’m very happy to take this step and the responsibility of leading this club. Since I arrived at Villa with Wes and Nassef we have always found the best environment and structure to develop a project with the greatest ambition,” he said in statements provided by the club’s official media.

For his part, Aston Villa president Nassef Sawiris was enthusiastic about the agreement. “We are building something special at Aston Villa with Unai at the center and we are delighted that he has signed a new contract with the club until 2029.
