Paris Saint-Germain wins the French Cup after beating Lyon in farewell to Mbappé

Paris Saint-Germain won the French Cup this Saturday, beating Lyon, 2-1, at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium, in Lille. Dembelé and Fabian Ruiz scored for the Paris team, while Jake O’Brien scored for the opponent.

The match marked Kylian Mbappé’s farewell to PSG. The Frenchman has previously announced that he will leave the Parisian team at the end of the season. Thus, he says goodbye to the club with 15 titles.

Last weekend, the team led by coach Luis Enrique ended their participation in the French Championship with a victory over Metz. On that occasion, Mbappé did not enter the field. The Parque dos Príncipes team won the French Cup in advance.

Paris Saint-Germain opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of the first half. Nuno Mendes sent the ball into the area and Ousmane Dembelé appeared high up to head the ball into the goal and put the visitors ahead. At 34, Fabian Ruiz took advantage of the ball left in the area and sent it into the goalkeeper’s left corner to increase the score.

Lyon pulled one back ten minutes into the second half. Rayan Cherki took a corner into the box, Jake O’Brien went up and headed it home.
