Ex-coach of the Russian national team Stanislav Cherchesov was named a contender for the post in the Russian Premier League (RPL) club Paris Nizhny Novgorod. “Championship” writes about this.

Cherchesov can lead Paris NN if the club retains its place in the RPL. At the moment, the Nizhny Novgorod team is in 14th place in the table, being in the play-off zone.

Cherchesov coached the Russian national team from 2016 to 2021. Under his leadership, the national team reached the quarterfinals of the home World Cup 2018. Also, as a coach, the specialist became the champion of Poland and Hungary with Legia and Ferencvaros, respectively. Cherchesov won silver medals at the Russian Championship with Spartak Moscow in the 2007 season.

Earlier it became known that Cherchesov is a contender for the post of head coach of Lokomotiv Moscow if Mikhail Galaktionov leaves the club. In addition to the former coach of the Russian national team, Serbian Marko Nikolic, who already worked at Lokomotiv, was named as Galaktionov’s likely replacement.
