Swedish hockey officials spoke in favor of further suspension of Russians
In Sweden they spoke in favor of further exclusion of Russians from international tournaments. Expressen writes about this.
“We are absolutely clear that Russia should be left excluded from the competition. Sweden has a pretty good position in international hockey. We are simply a strong player in this world,” said Swedish Hockey Federation Chairman Anders Larsson.
On February 13, the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) extended the suspension of the Russian and Belarus national teams for the 2024/2025 season. The officially stated reason was current security risks.
Earlier, former IIHF President Rene Fasel expressed hope for Russia’s return to the world stage. “I hope the Russians will return as soon as possible, but I’m not here to discuss politics,” Fasel told reporters.
