Olympic shooting champion Batsarashkina was deprived of the opportunity to compete at the 2024 Games
Russian Olympic champion in bullet shooting Vitalina Batsarashkina was deprived of the opportunity to compete at the 2024 Games in Paris. The athlete’s coach Natalya Kudrina spoke about this, as quoted by TASS.
Batsarashkina was unable to obtain neutral status in order to take part in the selection for the Olympic Games. “They set a lot of conditions. In particular, one must not be associated with either the army, or Dynamo, or DOSAAF; athletes must be absolutely neutral. And she is an officer of the Russian Guard, so for now we have zero prospects,” Kudrina said.
The coach added that she also received a refusal because of her affiliation with Dynamo. According to her, Russian neutral athletes today are young guys who have not yet proven themselves.
Batsarashkina is a two-time Olympic champion and two-time silver medalist. She also has medals of all merits at the 2018 World Championships.
The Paris Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status. However, they will not be allowed to participate in the parade of delegations at the opening ceremony of the Games.
