Duhamel called on the ISU to ban Russian skaters from moving to other teams
Olympic champion in figure skating, Canadian Megan Duhamel spoke on her page on the social network X about the change of sports citizenship by Russian figure skaters.
Duhamel called on the International Skating Union (ISU) to ban Russian skaters from moving to other teams unless they train abroad. “Otherwise, they still support the state program in Russia,” she concluded.
Earlier it became known that the Russian Figure Skating Federation allowed the single skater Sofya Samodelkina, the sports couple Ekaterina Geinisch and Dmitry Chigirev, as well as ice dancing performer Annabel Morozov, to change their sports citizenship. They will move to the national teams of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and the USA, respectively.
Russian figure skaters were banned from competing in tournaments under the auspices of the ISU in March 2022. The last major start for domestic athletes was the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing.
