Italian Claudio Ranieri left the command of Cagliari this Tuesday and decided to end his long career at the age of 72. The coach was marked by his unprecedented Premier League victory at Leicester City in 2016.
Ranieri had a difficult last season leading Cagliari. Despite this, he managed to ensure the club’s stay in the Italian First Division.
“Ranieri is leaving Cagliari. In his two spells at the club, he has always managed to lead the team to its goals. After two promotions and a salvation in the First Division, in the last year and a half he achieved a masterpiece with victory in the play -off and stay. Cagliari is and will always be your home. Forever grateful”, published Cagliari.

With spells at Inter Milan, Juventus and Chelsea, Ranieri’s long-lasting career as a coach began in 1986, when he took over at Vigor Lamezia. He would have his first spell at Cagliari, the club where he ended his career, in 1988.
Despite playing for big clubs on his resume, it was in the small city of Leicester, in the United Kingdom, that Ranieri stood out most. He took over Leicester City in 2015, captaining the team to an unprecedented Premier League title – the club had been promoted to the First Division just a year earlier.
