Brazilian Éder Militão is going through a difficult time at Real Madrid. The defender ruptured his cruciate knee ligament in August 2023 and only returned to action in March, seven months later. The 26-year-old player has struggled to catch up with the rest of the squad and his presence in the Merengues starting lineup is not guaranteed.

Last Sunday, in the 4-4 draw against Villareal, Militão was no match for striker Alexander Sorloth, who scored four goals for Real Madrid. All the goals conceded came from plays on the Brazilian defender. The performance of the Madrid club’s number 3 was heavily criticized by the Spanish media.
Despite the bad match, coach Carlo Ancelotti highlighted Militão’s performance. According to the Italian coach, the Brazilian still has a chance of being present in the Champions League final, against Borussia Dortmund, at Wembley.
“We have two weeks, he (Militão) can fully reach the final.”, said Ancelotti after the game against Villareal.
In the current season, Militão has played just 11 matches, two of which are in the Champions League. In the Brazilian’s absence, Real Madrid’s defender duo was formed by Rudiger and Nacho Fernández.
