Kostya Tszyu: Usyk cannot be considered the greatest heavyweight boxer in history
Former absolute world boxing champion Konstantin Tszyu appreciated the victory of Ukrainian Alexander Usik over Briton Tyson Fury. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“I’m glad for the Ukrainian. He’s really great! Sasha cannot be considered the greatest heavyweight boxer in history! What does greatest mean? Usik is only in the middle of his career,” Tszyu noted.
According to the former champion, Usik winning the title of absolute heavyweight champion is very important. At the same time, Tszyu considered that it does not make the Ukrainian the greatest among heavyweights.
On the night of May 19, a fight between Usik and Fury took place in Saudi Arabia. The title of absolute world heavyweight champion was at stake. The fight lasted all 12 rounds and ended with the victory of the Ukrainian by a split decision – 115-112, 113-114, 114-113.
The defeat was the first in Fury’s career; before that, he had 34 wins and a draw. Usik remained undefeated, winning his 22nd fight in the professional ring.
