Usik defeated Fury on points and became the absolute world boxing champion
Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik won on points over Briton Tyson Fury in the fight for the title of absolute world heavyweight boxing champion in Saudi Arabia. The broadcast was conducted on the Sport Express website.
The fight took place in Riyadh and lasted all 12 rounds. It ended with Usik winning by split decision – 115-112, 113-114, 114-113. This is Fury’s first defeat in his professional career after 34 wins and 1 draw. Usik won his 22nd fight in the professional ring and remains undefeated.
For the first time in the history of boxing, four world champion titles were competed for at once: according to the versions of the World Boxing Council (WBC), World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Organization (WBO), International Boxing Federation (IBF) in the heavyweight division.
Earlier, The Story Insider reported that the guaranteed fees of the British and Ukrainian would be 20 and eight million dollars, respectively. They will receive the main income from sales of paid broadcasts: income will be distributed in a ratio of 65 to 35 percent in favor of Fury.
