As announced by the Premier League this Friday, 22-year-old Cole Palmer was named the best young player of the 2023/24 season. The award had been won by Manchester City players in the last three years (Haaland in the last and Foden in the previous two).
The English striker racked up 22 goals and 10 assists in 33 Premier League games in his debut season at Chelsea. With one game remaining in the competition, he is the second top scorer and tied with two other athletes in direct participation in goals (a statistic that combines goals added to assists).

With Chelsea’s poor start to the season, Palmer arrived in London questioned, mainly due to the amount paid by the club for him: 47 million euros (around R$261 million at current prices). The player is from City’s academy and never had a run in Guardiola’s team.
Despite the instability faced by his team during the championship, Palmer emerged and remained a protagonist for the Blues, and goes into the final round having been crucial in Chelsea’s likely qualification for a European competition.
Chelsea accumulates 60 points in 37 games in the Premier League and occupies 6th place. The team led by Argentine Mauricio Pochettino’s last commitment is the game against Bournemouth next Sunday (19), at 12pm (BrasÃlia time), valid for the 38th round of the English Championship.
