Islam Makhachev spoke about the possible date of the fight with Conor McGregor
Russian fighter of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Islam Makhachev spoke about a possible date for the fight with Irishman Conor McGregor. This became known from Makhachev’s interview with the Pound4Pound YouTube channel.
“I can fight in August-September 2024 against McGregor. Conor is not the same as before, everyone knows that. Previously, when he fought Khabib Nurmagomedov, he was in good shape. But now he drinks too much alcohol,” said the Russian fighter.
Makhachev’s next fight will be against American Dustin Poirier on June 1 in New Jersey at UFC 302. This will be a fight for the UFC lightweight champion title. If the Russian wins, he will defend his championship belt for the third time and repeat Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record for the number of title defenses in the lightweight weight category.
Earlier, Makhachev laughed at Poirier’s nickname. “His nickname is Diamond. On the first of June I will go into the octagon, take the Diamond and put it in my belt,” Makhachev said. The UFC lightweight champion also said that Poirier has a weak fight, and the American always has problems when he is taken to the ground.
