The IOC made a statement about the possible removal of Khachanov from the Olympics

The IOC will decide on Khachanov’s admission to the Olympic Games after reviewing the lists from the ATP

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made a statement about the possible suspension of Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov from the 2024 Games. The organization’s commentary is provided by TASS.

The IOC said that the International Tennis Federation and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) are responsible for holding men’s competitions at the Olympic Games. “International federations will have to provide a list of qualified and eligible athletes. Then the IOC will review these lists to make a final decision on admission by sport,” the message emphasizes.

On May 9, Khachanov published a photo with the St. George ribbon on social networks. After this, some users complained about the tennis player’s actions to the IOC.

According to the conditions of admission of Russians to the 2024 Games in Paris, the St. George ribbon is a prohibited symbol. According to IOC criteria, it violates the principle of neutral status of Russian athletes.
