Manager Abdel-Aziz promised that Makhachev would give a master class in the fight with Poirier
The manager of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Islam Makhachev, Ali Abdel-Aziz, spoke about the Russian’s preparation for the fight against the American Dustin Poirier. He posted a post with this content on his Instagram (social network banned in the Russian Federation; belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and is banned).
“I have been in Islam Makhachev’s training camp for two weeks now. He does whatever he wants with everyone here. He is the greatest UFC fighter to date. On June 1, he will give a master class,” Abdel-Aziz promised.
Makhachev and Poirier will fight for the UFC lightweight championship on June 1 in New Jersey at UFC 302. If the Russian fighter wins, he will defend the championship belt for the third time and repeat Khabib Nurmagomedov’s record for the most title defenses in the lightweight category.
In the previous fight in October 2023, Makhachev defeated Australian representative Alexander Volkanovski. The Russian fighter finished the fight with a knockout in the first round.
