With City at the top, Arteta maintains faith in Arsenal’s English title: “There is always hope”

Although Manchester City’s victory over Tottenham took Arsenal’s lead before the final round of the English Championship, the London team’s coach, Spaniard Mikel Arteta, said this Wednesday that he continues to believe in the title.

“There is always hope. I have experienced several situations like this and first you have to do your part, do the work. From there, we will see what happens”, declared Arteta at the Spanish embassy in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded the Official Cross of the Royal Order of Elizabeth, the Catholic, in recognition of her contribution to Spain’s international relations.

Arsenal (2nd, 86 points), who have not been English champions since 2004, no longer depend on themselves to win the title on Sunday: they need to beat Everton and wait for a stumble from Manchester City (1st, 88), who will play at home against West Ham.

“On Sunday, we are going to live a wonderful day. It is the first time since the construction of the Emirates (Stadium, home of Arsenal, opened in 2006) that the Premier League will be there waiting for us, with the red ribbons, because, if we win and they don’t, the title will be ours”, said Arteta.

Arteta (42 years old) was an Arsenal player and has been the team’s coach since 2019. Under his command, the London team won the FA Cup in 2020.

The Spaniard’s good work in the Premier League led to his name being considered for other big clubs on the continent, including taking over the Spain national team.

“I’ve always thought that, at some point, I’ll return (to Spain). I really like my homeland, our way of living, our way of getting together, the culture and the wonderful country we have. But today, I’m happy here and I’m Thank you for the way you treat me”, he highlighted.
