Raphinha scored, from the penalty spot, Barcelona’s second goal in the victory over Real Sociedad, by 2, in the Spanish Championship, last Monday. During the celebration, the Brazilian took off his club shirt and revealed a t-shirt with the message “Pray for RS”, in honor of the state of Rio Grande do Sul. Because of this, the player will be fined by the competition.
“The footballer who, when scoring a goal or for any other reason within the game, lifts his shirt and displays any type of advertising, motto, caption, acronym, anagram or drawing, regardless of the content or purpose, will be fined as the perpetrator of a serious infraction, with a fine of up to 3,000 euros and a reprimand, which is recorded by the referee on the scoresheet in the warnings or incidents section”, says article 96 of the Spanish Championship Disciplinary Code.
Referee Guillermo Cuadra Fernández showed a yellow card to Raphinha for taking off his shirt during the celebration and noted the Brazilian’s gesture on the scoresheet. Because of this, the player will receive a fine of approximately R$3,000. Barcelona is also fined around R$2,000.

The same already happened with Lionel Messi, in November 2020. Four days after the death of Diego Maradona, the Argentine celebrated a goal for Barcelona, in a Spanish Championship match, showing a Newell’s Old Boys shirt, from the time when Maradona defended the club, underneath the uniform.
The star also received a yellow card and was fined the same amount as Raphinha.
