The athlete appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). She was disqualified based on the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory (LIMS) database.

Guliyeva’s suspension is scheduled to end on March 27, 2026. All the athlete’s results achieved from July 17, 2012 to October 20, 2014 were annulled, including second place at the 2012 Olympic Games at a distance of 800 meters.

In 2019, the Russian woman married a Turkish track and field athlete of Azerbaijani origin, Ramil Guliyev. In 2021, she received the right to play for the Turkish national team. She managed to win gold in the 800 meters at the Mediterranean Games.
