Tarasova criticized the possible appointment of Degtyarev to the post of Minister of Sports
Honored coach of Russia in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova criticized the possible appointment of the Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev to the post of Minister of Sports. Her words are quoted by Sport Express.
“We need to appoint people who are related to sports, whom we know,” Tarasova said. She emphasized that she is not sure that Degtyarev will help the Russians return to international tournaments.
The upcoming replacement of the current acting Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin became known on May 7. Among the main contenders for the post is Degtyarev.
Degtyarev was elected governor of the Khabarovsk Territory in 2021. Before that, he worked as chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs.
