Irish mixed style fighter (MMA) Conor McGregor got into a fight on Twitter with the manager of Russian Khabib Nurmagomedov Ali Abdel-Aziz. Their correspondence is cited by MMA Junkie, as its members deleted the messages.
Abdel-Aziz reacted negatively to McGregor’s reaction to the Dagestani’s joke about the beating in the Moscow metro. In response, the Irishman wrote about hatred of the interlocutor and cited an article from Google about the percentage of closely related marriages in Dagestan. The manager condemned the fighter for insulting the Dagestanis, calling them one of the most decent people in the world.
McGregor was surprised that Abdel-Aziz was angry with the article from Google. Then the manager stopped responding to the words of the athlete. “We’ll sniff it later, just be careful not to screw up the bus,” the fighter laughed as a result.
On October 13, Nurmagomedov published a photo of McGregor after their fight, accompanied by his signature: “Where is my medal from Bastrykin? I was also beaten by a crowd of Dagestanis ”. In response to this, the Irishman asked Bastrykin about the medal for the Dagestani fighter who “put it in his pants.”
The joke is connected with the beating of Roman Kovalev, who stood up for the girl in the Moscow metro, by three Dagestanis. The intruders were detained and three criminal cases were initiated against them. The victim was admitted to the hospital with fractures of the nose and orbit of the eye. Bastrykin presented Kovalev with the Valor and Courage medal.
In October 2018, Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor ahead of schedule, defending the UFC lightweight title. After the end of the duel, the Russian fighter jumped out of the octagon and entered into a fight with the opponent’s seconds, and Nurmagomedov’s seconds attacked the Irishman.
