Khoroshavtseva defeated Ukrainian Grushina and won a license for the Olympics in wrestling
Russian Olga Khoroshavtseva won a license in women’s wrestling for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Results are available on the United World Wrestling (UWW) website.
To win a license, athletes had to reach the finals of the world Olympic qualifying tournament held in Istanbul. Khoroshavtseva defeated Ukrainian Alina Grushina in the semi-finals of the tournament. The fight took place in the weight category up to 57 kilograms.
On April 12, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine made a statement about the performance of Russian and Belarusian wrestlers at the 2024 Olympics. In Ukraine they called on not to allow athletes from Russia and Belarus due to violation of the requirements of neutrality and support for the SVO.
The UWW has decided to allow Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments in a neutral status in April 2023. To do this, they need to follow the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee.
