Candidates for the post of Minister of Sports of Russia have been named

RBC: Mikhail Degtyarev is running for the post of Minister of Sports of Russia

The governor of the Khabarovsk Territory, Mikhail Degtyarev, as well as the deputies of the current head of the department, Oleg Matytsin, Odes Baysultanov and Azat Kadyrov, are vying for the post of Minister of Sports of Russia. RBC named candidates for the post.

It is clarified that the authorities have already discussed possible personnel changes. Degtyarev worked as chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, Kadyrov was involved in the development of sports in Tatarstan, and Baysultanov was
Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of Russia in the North Caucasus Federal District.

Matytsin’s impending shift became known on May 7. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the resignation of the Russian government.

Matytsin was appointed to the post of Minister of Sports on January 21, 2020. Since February 2022, many Russian athletes have been suspended from international tournaments, and the country has been deprived of the right to host major tournaments.
