Marcelo highlights ‘suffering’, but exalts victory against Colo-Colo in the Libertadores

Fluminense achieved a great result by beating Colo Colo-CHI 1-0, this Wednesday, in Santiago. The triumph consolidated the tricolors in the leadership of group A of the Libertadores.

Left-back Marcelo admitted that the Brazilian team suffered under pressure from Colo-Colo, but had the ability to leave the field with the victory.

“The victory is very important. A very difficult match. The most beautiful thing about football is not giving up and trying to achieve things. Colo Colo is doing very well, but we are doing well too. Today we used a lot of long balls, which we don’t do”, he said.

The hero of the match was defender Manoel, who scored the goal.

“Happy with the goal and being able to help Fluminense win. We knew it would be a complicated game, thank you. Diniz prepared us well, he failed to emphasize the importance of the match”, he declared.

Finally, Fluminense can confirm their classification in the next round, against Cerro Porteño-PAR, at Maracanã, on Thursday. The ball rolls at 7pm (Brasília time).
