Two hospitals are enabled in Beijing and Zhangjiakou to care for athletes who present positive results.
The chinese authorities they affirmed this Thursday that they are prepared to deal with the outbreaks of contagion during the Beijing Winter Olympics (February 4-20, 2022), with two hospitals enabled to care for athletes who test positive.
“There will certainly be infections and there may be a small-scale contagion source”Said Huang Chun, in charge of controlling the spread of the virus during the Olympic event in the Chinese capital.
In his opinion, the event presents “a very high risk of transmission.”
“There will be a certain number of positive cases,” said another head of the organizing committee, Han Zirong.
China has adopted since the middle of last year a strategy “zero covid”: strict border restrictions, localized confinements, long quarantines and population tracking.
A simple case can lead to massive tests or even confinements. The country would have thus managed to keep infection rates at low levels.
China has tightened already very strict measures in anticipation of the arrival of thousands of foreign athletes for the Olympic Games. The capital Beijing now requires negative covid tests for all visitors and limits flights from other cities.

Athletes who test positive will not be allowed to participate in the Games.
The asymptomatic patients will be quarantined in the countryWhile those with symptoms will be sent to two hospitals in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, Huang Chun said.
“The Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games must strictly apply the principles and requirements of the Chinese government in the prevention and control of the virus,” insisted Han Zirong. (D)
