Atalanta beats Olympique de Marseille and decides the Europa League with Leverkusen

This Thursday, Atalanta hosted Olympique Marseille in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final. The home team won 3-0, guaranteed a place in the tournament’s final and will compete in a continental final for the first time in their history.

After the 1-1 draw in the first leg, the aggregate score of the match was 4-1 in favor of the Italian team, who will decide the competition against Bayer Leverkusen. The match takes place on May 22, at the Aviva Stadium, in Dublin, Ireland. The time has not yet been defined by UEFA.

Atalanta returns to the field this Sunday, at 3:45 pm (Brasília time), when they host Roma, in the Italian Championship. Olympique de Marseille faces Lorient at home, on the same day, at 4 pm, in the French match.

How were the goals?

The Italian team opened the scoring in the 29th minute of the first half. Lookman received it on the left wing, cleared the mark and hit hard. The ball even deflected into the defense before dying inside the goal. In the 15th minute of the second half, Ruggeri crossed the line with Lookmann and hit the corner to find the net and extend the lead for Atalanta.

Already in stoppage time, the French team started playing wrongly, Touré didn’t waste his hesitation and scored the third, in the 49th minute, guaranteeing the local team in the Europa League decider.
