“Most important game of the season”, says Unai Emery about Aston Villa’s duel against Olympiacos

Aston Villa coach Unai Emery held a press conference this Wednesday and highlighted the importance of the game against Olympiacos in the Conference League semi-final. The match will take place this Thursday, at the Karaiskákis Stadium, starting at 4pm (Brasília time). In the first leg, the Greeks won 4-2, at Villa Park, in England.

“We need to do better. It will be difficult with the atmosphere,” he said. “We need to build a new attempt here with our players and our idea. This is the most important game of the season”, he concluded.

Despite this, the coach also stated that the season will not have been a failure if the team does not reach the final of the European competition.

“Winning a trophy in Europe is very difficult. To get here, you have to be consistent, but if we don’t win tomorrow, the process will be clear.”

Aston Villa occupies fourth place in the English Championship, with 67 points, and is close to qualifying for the next Champions League. Tottenham (fifth place), with 60 points and one game in hand, is the only team that has a mathematical chance of taking this place from the Birmingham club.

“In the Premier League, we are having a fantastic season. We have to enjoy both competitions. We have to be proud of our work”, concluded Unai Emery.
