With a penalty goal from Argentine Lucas Beltrán in the final stretch (85′), Fiorentina snatched a 1-1 draw with Brugge this Wednesday, in Belgium, and qualified for the Conference League final.

After winning the first game 3-2, the Italian team only managed to hold the advantage away from home for 20 minutes, until Maxim de Cuyper’s goal left the match level.
With both teams more concerned about not losing than seeking victory, the game only had more excitement in the final minutes. Brandon Mechele brought down M’Bala Nzola trying to block a shot from the Ivorian striker and the referee awarded a penalty, which Beltrán did not waste.
After the draw, Brugge went for it all or nothing and had two good chances to score the goal that would take the duel to extra time, but goalkeeper Pietro Terraciano saved Fiorentina.
The Italian team will once again compete in the Conference League final just one year after losing the title to West Ham (2-1 in Prague).
The tournament decision is scheduled for May 29th, in Athens. The other finalist will emerge from Thursday’s clash between Olympiakos and Aston Villa in the Greek capital.
In the first game last week, Olympiakos took a good lead with a 4-2 victory in England.
