Fakel was fined for fans who called Zenit a disgrace to Russian football
The Control and Disciplinary Committee (CDC) of the Russian Football Union (RFU) fined the Voronezh “Fakel” for offensive chants of the team’s fans against the St. Petersburg “Zenith”. The head of the CDC, Artur Grigoryants, told Match TV about this.
The team will pay 30 thousand rubles for mass chanting by fans: “Zenit is a disgrace to Russian football.” In addition, the Voronezh team will pay 10 thousand rubles for head coach Igor Cherevchenko to leave the technical zone during the meeting.
Earlier, Fakel captain Irakli Kvekveskiri explained the insults from the team’s fans towards Zenit. According to him, this is due to the large number of foreign players in the blue-white-blue team.
The meeting of the teams as part of the 27th round of the RPL took place on May 6 in Voronezh. The game ended with the score 1:1.
