RUSADA announced the refusal of foreign laboratories to accept samples from the Friendship Games
Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Veronika Loginova announced the refusal of some foreign laboratories to accept samples from athletes from tournaments that will be held in Russia. Her words are quoted by TASS.
According to the functionary, this applies to the Friendship Games and the BRICS Games. “All samples will be exported to accredited laboratories outside the country. And we began to encounter refusals. We are taking all possible measures to ensure doping control,” Loginova said.
Previously, WADA noted that Russia does not have the right to host the Friendship Games and the BRICS Games due to RUSADA’s non-compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code. The head of WADA, Witold Banka, stated that the idea of holding the Friendship Games is slightly contrary to the Olympic Games.
The Friendship Games will be held in September 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. The tournament will include competitions in 33 summer Olympic and non-Olympic sports. The BRICS Games will be held from June 13 to 23 in Kazan.
