RBC: Oleg Matytsin may be removed from the post of Minister of Sports of Russia
In Russia they wanted to replace the current acting Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin. RBC reports this.
According to the publication, several candidates are being considered to replace Matytsin. The possible resignation was also confirmed by a source close to the Ministry of Sports.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the resignation of the Russian government. The Cabinet of Ministers will be updated for the first time according to new standards established after amendments to the Constitution in 2020. According to them, the State Duma will approve the candidates for prime ministers, deputy prime ministers and most ministers.
Matytsin was appointed to the post of Minister of Sports on January 21, 2020. At the end of February 2022, many sports organizations banned Russians from participating in competitions on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee. Russia also lost the right to host many major tournaments.
