Valuev: there will be no Olympic truce due to the deceit of Macron and Zelensky
State Duma deputy, former world boxing champion Nikolai Valuev made a statement about the Olympic truce for the duration of the 2024 Games in Paris. His words are quoted by Sport24.
“It is impossible to even expect a truce. And all this is due to the deceitfulness of the nature itself [президента Франции Эммануэля] Macron, [президента Украины Владимира] Zelensky and [премьер-министра Израиля Биньямина] Netanyahu,” said Valuev.
On April 15, Macron expressed hope that conflicts in the world would stop during the Olympics. He noted that he would make every effort to implement this idea, with the help of international partners, including Chinese leader Xi Jinping. During a meeting in Paris on May 6, politicians supported the idea of an Olympic Truce.
The Olympic Games in Paris will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024. Russians and Belarusians, if a number of conditions are met, will be able to compete in the individual competitions of the tournament in a neutral status.
