Midfielder Gabriel Sara, formerSão Paulo, celebrated Norwich, from England, qualifying for the Championship play-offs. The team is now three games away from returning to Premier League.
“The classification is deserved due to our regularity during the season. We created a very strong synergy with the fans and we are working like never before to achieve this great objective of ours and the club, which is to return to the Premier League”, said Sara.
Norwich finished the competition in sixth place, gaining the last place in the play-offs, which will be played against fifth to third placed teams. Leicester and Ipswich, first placed, gained direct access. Gabriel Sara’s team will face Leeds in round-trip games, on the 12th and 16th and, if they pass the stage, they will decide the place against West Bromwich or Southampton, on the 26th, in a single match at Wembley Stadium. Only one of these four teams guarantees access to the Premier League.

“Now another championship begins for us. We are all very motivated for these remaining games and we want to return Norwich to the Premier League, which is where it deserves to be,” said Sara.
The former São Paulo man has been one of Norwich’s main highlights this season, contributing 12 goals and 13 assists. Furthermore, he was a starter in all 46 rounds of the competition, being on the field in 4107 of the 4140 possible minutes. His good performances earned him several awards such as Best Player of August 2023 in the tournament and Norwich’s Player of the Month for March and April.
“I’m very proud to receive these awards. But honestly, I see them as a consequence of something much bigger. I’m happy, adapted and I feel that we developed a very special connection between the team and the fans this season”, he commented.
