Benfica visited Famalicão this Sunday, for the 32nd round of the Portuguese Championship. The home team won 2-0, a result that guaranteed Sporting the national title in advance.
With the defeat, vice-leader Benfica remains with 76 points and can no longer reach Sporting’s 84 points, with only two more rounds remaining until the end of the championship. Famalicão, in turn, has 39 points and remains in 8th place in the table.
Benfica returns to the field next Sunday, at 2 pm (Brasília time), when they host Arouca. Famalicão visits Chaves this Friday, at 4:15 pm. The two games are valid for the 33rd round of the Portuguese Championship.

Still in the first half, both teams found the net, but the goals were disallowed due to offside.
Famalicão opened the scoring just 25 minutes into the second half. After connecting with Gustavo Sá, José Luis Rodríguez received the ball on the right wing, cut to the middle and hit hard to score the first goal of the game.
In the 40th minute, Benfica played the wrong way and Mirko Topic threw it to Youssouf, who came in front of the goal and hit a cross to seal Famalicão’s victory and Sporting’s title.
