Ecuador’s selection closes season in 46th place in the FIFA ranking; Belgium leads

The Tricolor remains in the box it occupied in November, and is the ninth ranked among the 10 teams of Conmebol.

Selection of Belgium, directed by the Spanish Roberto Martínez, closes the year, for the fourth consecutive time at the top of the FIFA ranking, but with only 2.1 points of advantage over Brazil, in a classification in which Ecuador maintains the 46th position it occupied in the November publication.

In front of 323 international matches played in 2020, due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 had a total of 1,116 meetings, quite a record.

Despite this, Belgium repeat at the top of the podium, although with a slim advantage over Brazil, which is reinforced by its impeccable record in the qualifying rounds of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and its second place in the Copa América.

La Tricolor is located in 46th place with 1,448.27 points, same position but with 47 hundredths less than the score reached in November, when there was a break in the qualifying round for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. This December, Ecuador held a friendly game, with a 1-1 draw against El Salvador.

In the classification, France, winner of the League of Nations, is third, Italy, champion of the European Championship, is fourth ahead of England, European runner-up, and Argentina, champion of the America’s Cup.

The Spanish team, runner-up in the Nations League, is seventh in a classification in which Germany doesn’t even make the Top 10, twelfth, behind the Netherlands (11) Denmark (10) and the Mexican team of Argentine Gerardo Martino, who returns to command the Concacaf. (D)
