Sotnikova said that she was thinking about retiring before the victorious 2014 Olympics
Olympic figure skating champion Adelina Sotnikova said that she had thoughts about retiring a few months before the victorious 2014 Games. Her interview was published in the Moscow Skater magazine.
Sotnikova shared that she lost all her jumps due to puberty. According to the athlete, during the Olympic season a lot of things didn’t work out for her, so she was thinking about withdrawing from the main competitions.
“But the Russian Championship (at which the figure skater won gold – approx. “Tapes.ru”) just showed that I can cope with myself even in this state. And then I realized that there was nothing wrong with it, you just need to make friends with your head, because in fact everything comes from the head,” Sotnikova recalled.
Sotnikova was the first Russian to win Olympic gold in women’s singles skating. She also has four Russian champion titles and two silver medals at the European Championships.
