The injured Beterbiev said that doctors insisted on postponing the fight with Bivol
Injured Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev commented on the postponement of the fight with compatriot Dmitry Bivol in his Telegram channel.
“Unfortunately, injuries in professional sports are not uncommon, and no one is immune from them. “I sincerely did not want the upcoming fight to be postponed, but the doctors insisted on a postponement,” he said. The boxer stressed that the fight will definitely take place later.
The postponement of the fight became known earlier on May 4. The fight for the title of absolute world champion was supposed to take place on June 1 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
Beterbiev is the world champion in the light heavyweight category – according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO). During his career, the 39-year-old athlete won 19 victories and did not suffer a single defeat.
33-year-old Bivol won 21 victories in his professional career and also did not suffer a single defeat. He holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) light heavyweight title.
