In a commitment valid for the 36th round of the English Championship, the Manchester City hosted Wolverhampton at the Etihad Stadium and won 5-1. Haaland (4) and Julián Álvarez scored the home team’s goals, while Hwang Hee-chan scored for the visitors.
The triumph kept the Manchester team in second place in the Premier League. The “Citizens” have one game less in the competition, having accumulated 82 points in 35 matches. Wolverhampton, in turn, continues with 46 points from 36 matches, occupying 11th place.
City’s next match will only be next Saturday, against Fulham. Wolves return to the field on the same day, in the same tournament, but against Crystal Palace.

The game
The current English champions managed to score after just 12 minutes of the first half, with a penalty kick. Haaland hit the goalkeeper’s right corner hard and opened the scoring.
The Norwegian striker scored his second and doubled the gap in the 34th minute, when he received a cross from Rodri at the back post and headed the ball past the Wolverhampton goalkeeper.
City’s third came after another penalty. The number 9 hit and secured his hattrick in the match at 48 in the first half.
In the second half, the visitors’ only goal came in the 8th minute. Hwang Hee-chan took the chance after Ederson deflected a cross from the right, finishing low in the middle of the goal.
Haaland scored his fourth and final goal in the 9th minute of the second half, a minute after the opponent’s goal: he received a pass from Phil Foden, cut the marker and hit the goalkeeper’s right corner with his left-hander.
Finally, in the 40th minute of the second half, Julián Álvarez took advantage of Rodri’s good pass and finished with a left cross, completing the rout.
